How do I qualify for the R.I.S.E. Academy?

CCISD employees who are interested in furthering their career and have a recommendation from their current campus principal are eligible to apply for the program.  You can express your interest in the program by filling out this form: https://forms.gle/uto2VXqUXgjy24LY6 

When do I begin taking IWU courses?

If you have more than 60 credit hours, you will apply to and begin IWU courses right way. If you have fewer than 60 credit hours, you will apply to IWU and begin taking courses towards your degree after completing CCISD’s Schoology training courses.  These courses are turned into IWU and will be counted for up to 30 hours of college credit upon completion.

Am I required to attend Tuesday evening trainings? What about the study session from 5-6?

Attending Tuesday evening R.I.S.E. trainings (aka After-School Specials) are a requirement of the program.  These trainings are focused on core effective teaching and instructional practices and will support you in your success as you begin the journey to having your own classroom.  Trainings take place on Tuesdays from 4-5 and the District Training Facility will remain open from 5-6 to allow you a quiet place to complete Schoology or IWU courses with support.  The study hour is optional.

Who is required to complete the CCISD Schoology Courses? Are materials, like books, provided?

Everyone in the Aspire track must complete the CCISD Schoology Courses. Any materials needed to complete the courses are available for check out and provided. 

How long will the CCISD courses take me?  Are they hard?

How quickly participants work through the Schoology courses is unique to each student.  They are designed to be reflective, practical, and applicable.  We are confident that you will find them very manageable. 

Am I required to attend all of the Sharon Wells trainings?  What grade do I attend?    
Yes, all R.I.S.E. Academy participants are required to attend Sharon Wells training once every 9 weeks regardless of what campus you work on or what grade you wish to teach.  Choose the grade that is most applicable to your desired grade level or attend different grade levels each time to get an idea of what the math resources look like at different levels.  Please make sure to register in Eduphoria for the session you are attending and to put in for a substitute or coordinate with your campus administrators for coverage.

Am I required to attend Reading Academy training?

Yes, attending Reading Academy is required and will count as a CCISD course that will be used for college credit.

What happens if I fail an IWU course?

CCISD will only pay for courses that are passed.  If you fail a course, you will be responsible for paying IWU for the course.

What is required as a Classroom Intern?

As a Classroom Intern you will receive a pay raise to compensate you for your duties and responsibilities.  As intern you will be responsible for a classroom, students, and duties just as a teacher would be.  You will be included in grade level/content planning, PLCs, campus trainings and district PD.  You will also be assigned a mentor teacher to support your growth in the role.
